A Family Hatchery in Rural Tennessee
We're a family hatchery tucked into the rolling hills outside Clarksville, Tennessee. What started as a backyard flock for our own table grew into a full hatchery operation — raising healthy, vigorous chickens the way nature intended: on pasture, with purpose. Barred Rocks are our founding breed, with more varieties planned as we grow.
We believe every chicken deserves a decent life, and every family deserves chicks they can trust. That's why we sell only straight-run chicks — cockerels included. Commercial hatcheries cull most males at hatch. We don't. Every bird that comes out of our incubator gets a chance to grow, serve a purpose, and be cared for well. Which is why we offer free processing for roosters purchased from Chicken Noodle Coop.
Our hatchery is NPIP-certified, which means our birds are tested and disease-free. What you get is consistency, health, and birds that perform.
NPIP Certified
Our hatchery is certified under the National Poultry Improvement Plan, ensuring disease-free birds you can trust.
Pasture-Raised Breeding Flock
Our breeding birds roam on pasture year-round, producing chicks with better immune function and natural vigor.
High Welfare Standards
Every bird in our care is raised with respect — clean coops, quality feed, fresh air, and room to thrive.
Why Barred Rocks?
Choosing a founding breed is a long-term commitment. We evaluated the most respected dual-purpose breeds and kept coming back to the Barred Plymouth Rock — a bird that's been proving itself on American farms for over 150 years. Here's how they stack up.
Barred Plymouth Rock
Our founding breed
- Egg Production
- Temperament
- Cold Hardiness
- Foraging Ability
- Dual-Purpose Value
The complete package — steady layers, quality meat birds, calm disposition, and exceptional hardiness in any climate.
Rhode Island Red
The production favorite
- Egg Production
- Temperament
- Cold Hardiness
- Foraging Ability
- Dual-Purpose Value
Prolific layers, but roosters can be assertive and the breed leans heavily toward production over a balanced table bird.
Black Australorp
World-record layer
- Egg Production
- Temperament
- Cold Hardiness
- Foraging Ability
- Dual-Purpose Value
Unmatched egg numbers and a gentle nature, but a smaller frame and modest foraging instinct tip the balance toward production.
Buff Orpington
The family classic
- Egg Production
- Temperament
- Cold Hardiness
- Foraging Ability
- Dual-Purpose Value
Beloved for their docile nature and heavy frame, but lower production numbers and poor foraging efficiency make them a niche choice.
Quality Poultry, Raised Right
Everything we sell comes from our own NPIP-certified hatchery. Barred Rocks are our founding breed — more varieties are on the way. No middlemen, no mystery — just honest birds from a family that cares deeply about the animals in our care.
